“Read the room.”
One of my favorite expressions. It’s a priority to practice. And should also be top of mind in most settings and interactions. Reading the room can be beneficial when applied with reason, nuance, and confidence. It can also be a challenge on occasion.
What to do when you show up to a place under or overdressed? Lead with confidence, it shows. Insecurity and discomfort show, too. When in doubt, overdress.
How to handle wearing the same dress or ensemble as someone else? Take a photo with them and laugh about it.
Wearing a bright color to a black tie event or the only one in a vibrant look in the room? Own it.
Remember, we’re often most consumed with ourselves. So is everyone else in the room. If you’re worried about how you look, so is 90% of the room. Let’s work on lowering that number this year and reading the room with foresight.

Your sweaters are looking tired. Give them a good shave. No one likes pilling.
A new mini shop: A monthly round-up of everything I wear and use. My number one on the February list is a heating pad.
Happy February… January is over :)
