Hi there! Welcome to Saturday Styles, your weekly guide to practical, relevant, and sleek product recommendations. Here are my top picks this week based on what I’ve been loving for my clients, my closet, and everyday upgrades.
*A black pant is a black pant until you make all the fit, cut, detailing, material, and styling considerations. It’s one of the most popular items I see in wardrobes. I wear black pants when I’m in clients' closets, at meetings, and for travel. This edit is a wide assortment of styles I own and recommend on repeat to clients.
SCUBA CROP
A medium scuba hold, they have a slight sheen to their materialization. I style them with loafers and a Merino polo sweater. These can be dressed up for work or dinner with a bodysuit and blazer or go on flights with cool sneakers and cashmere. They run true to size with a slightly longer crop (I’m 5’5”, and they hit right at my ankle bone). Good American Scuba Cropped Straight Trousers, $159.
PONTE CROP
I just ordered a second pair of these because I live in them while traveling. They’re great for short domestic flights and international travel, whether you’re seated or horizontal. They look good, have a solid stretch hold with a slimming pintuck front detail, and are machine washable. They sculpt the booty, too. BR has been doing a great job with petite, regular, and tall inseams and a wide range of sizing. Banana Republic Crop Flare Everywhere Ponte Pant, $100.
LUXE SCULPTING CROP
Earlier this month, I posted about these pants — they were gifted to me — and I truly love them. The material is lightweight and still manages to “hold” the body and sculpt while simultaneously being constructed in a super soft and luxurious material. I don’t know how they do it, but they’re dream-worthy. Pull-on style, runs true to size, and is meant to be fitted. They’re a raw cut hem, so very easy to cut to length for a slight crop fit — I just cut mine 1” so they don’t “break” when I wear them with booties. Stylest DaySculpt® Flare Leg Plegging, $148.
SEAMED CIGARETTE PANT
A favorite for petite clients, these pseudo leggings are slimming and comfortable. Side zip closure with a hint of stretch. Legging is in their name, but they’re more of a classic cigarette style. Again, another complimentary preference is their front seam detail, which acts as a more subtle pintuck design. There is a chic little back slit — a thoughtful touch. These Vince Stitch-Front Seam Leggings, $295.
DRESS TROUSER
An elegant wide-leg trouser that’s not too wide with a pintuck front. Made from a viscose blend, these are definitely more luxe than relaxed. Pair with a blouse, knitwear, or blazer for a chic trouser staple. These run true to size. Akris makes some of the best luxury pants out there—for clients who shop this brand, they’re a hero piece. Akris Punto Chiaro Wide-Leg Trousers, $595.
SUPER WIDE
The viral IG pant, clients who own these love them. They’re definitely a statement-wide leg more than the others in this silhouette. A good pair for tall friends; the inseam is super long. They’re elastic ponte with a pintuck down the front, and the shape/stretch holds. A bit higher-waisted, too. Again, true to size. Ripley Rider Ponte Knit Wide Leg Pant, $198.
VERSATILE FLARE
Dress up or dress down these Spanx wide leg stretch pants. They have more hold than other elastic trousers on the market, the weight leans more sucking in that some of the others, but not quite as fitted as actual Spanx shapewear. Dress up with heels or down with sneakers. Consider sizing up + note that they have petite, regular, and tall inseams. Spanx Ponte Wide Leg Pant, $148.
WORKDAY FLARE
These are another great work or going out pant option. If you prefer more of a bootcut pant, this is your winner. Anyone over 5’5” should consider these as a professional staple in their closet. This material is a scuba, but on the lighter side of weighted material, aka they breath well. Consider sizing up. Veronica Beard Hibiscus Scuba Pant, $450.
ELEGANT TROUSER
The ultimate luxe-satin trouser. They’re an evening pant to be worn with a statement top, blazer, or sumptuous cashmere. Break out your best jewelry, too. These evening pants can be worn when you don’t want to go the dress route for cocktail occasions. The front pleat is thoughtfully placed and modern. True to size. Khaite Marinta Pleated Straight-Leg Pants, $1,580.
FAUX LEATHER
I’ve seen these pants on a range of clientele with different body compositions and they work really well. Again, detailed with a pintuck down the front that elongates the leg, the faux leather is pliable and comfortable from A&O. Waist hits at a mid-high rise that works on petite frames, meaning, they’re not too high-waisted for most. These can go from the boardroom to the bar. True to size — make sure they’re not too fitted in this style for a more draped fit on the body. Alice & Olivia Dylan Wide-Leg Vegan Leather Pants, $295.
