Saturday Styles: Sneakers / Women's Styles
Top ten everyday elevated trainers for spring + summer.
Hi there! Welcome to Saturday Styles, your weekly guide to practical, relevant, and sleek product recommendations. Here are my top picks this week based on what I’ve been loving for my clients, my closet, and everyday upgrades.
**This week’s edit is all about classic sneakers to carry you stylishly into spring—perfect with dresses, skirts, denim, or even your more polished separates. After breaking my foot, I'll be living in flat soles for the foreseeable future, so comfort and style are top priorities. Here are my top ten women’s styles:
CLASSICS
Confession: I own six pairs of Sambas. They’re supremely comfortable, low profile, and cool. They’re always “in,” IMO. Take a full size down for adequate fit. Wear them with jeans, midi skirts and knits, black pants, and suiting. They’re great for travel. Just ordered this pair in silver… so make that seven. Adidas Samba OG Shoes, $100.
COOL KIDS
Fan of Golden Goose? These are a whole new take for a fraction of the cost. Oliver Cabell is a favorite in many of my clients’ closets because they look sleek with jeans, work for casual Fridays, and are a global sneaker (aka, they pack well and take you places with comfort while looking good). They can get dirty without worry. Take the size up if your a half size. Oliver Cabell Low 1 Stingray, $219.99.
CHIC TRAINERS
A splurge-worthy sneaker that lives in many clients’ closets. I wear these to travel in constantly when I’m not in my Samba’s. They’re so coveted that there are tons of knockoffs this season. Should you order them, just know that they are a little heavier than most sneakers, which might feel odd at first, but they are extremely sturdy and well-made. They look great with kick crops, joggers, leggings, and flowy dresses. Take your standard size - size up for half sizes. Loewe Flow Runner Sneakers, $790.
MORE COOL KIDS
It’s the gum sole that gets everyone with this style. A take on a classic white leather sneaker, the gum sole helps maintain the wear longer term as they don’t show dirty, scuffs and smudges as much. The gum sole also makes these a year-round white sneaker. Take standard whole size, but size down for half sizes — they are a little roomy. Koio Capri in White Gum, $245.
SPORTY STAPLE
A beloved style for the past few years (there are four pairs in my closet), this sneaker may seem “chunky,” but it’s actually not as substantial as it appears. They’re comfortable and go great for all-day activities like carpooling to coffee or weekend errands. Take your standard size. New Balance 327 Sneakers, $99.99.
LOW PROFILE DAILIES
These remind me of New England summer days. Many of my East Coasters have or have had a pair of Superga’s in their assortments. They’re clean, simple, canvas, and ideal for wearing with dresses or dress slacks. Toss them in your tote when you’re swapping out your heels in the city. You can even pull on your denim shorts and rolled-sleeve linen shirt half-buttoned and go. True to size. Superga 2750 Cotu Classic Sneakers, $75.
EVERYDAY PERSONALITY
Dolce Vita has been impressing me for the past few years, including their growing sneaker assortment. Fair priced for punch. These are a classic spring mesh version, but watch out, because once you get these, you may go back for their pairs with even more personality. True to size. Dolce Vita Notice Mesh Sneakers, $139.
SPORTY BROGUES
For the brogue lover, a twist on the vintage aesthetic with a hit of retro trainers. Must love this style. They’re cool, edgier, and have hints of masculinity, which I can appreciate in any womenswear styles. True to size. The Office of Angela Scott The Remi Sneaker, $495.
AIR SOLES
These sneakers are lauded for their dynamic design (whip stitching) and exceptional comfort, making them a versatile choice. Crafted with sustainability in mind, they incorporate recycled materials. They offer some height and extra comfort in the thick soles. Size up. Chloé Nama Suede Sneakers, $890.
THROWBACK GATs
The Adidas German Army Trainers (GAT) are celebrated for their minimalist design and versatile aesthetic, making them suitable for various styles, from casual to formal. Originally developed for the German military in the 1970s, these sneakers have experienced a resurgence in popularity. Half size down. Adidas BW Army Sneakers, $120.
🚨 Bonus 🧦
Since sneaker season is here, be sure your no-show socks are fully stocked in your drawers. My favorites are the only brand on the market I’ve found that don’t slip down your heel.
