What percentage of clothing in your closet are you actually wearing lately? Let’s get really real on this.
You may be going out to dinner more, traveling, returning to the office, booking coffee catch-ups or lunches, gathering for board and volunteer meetings, going to shows, or attending arts and cultural experiences. The list goes on. Needless to say, your schedule is starting to fill up again — in person. That means your wardrobe is back in commission.
The dust is being wiped off of certain articles of clothing and accessories that have been dormant for two years, capriciously awaiting their turn for re-entry. Or perhaps, you’re only reaching for a few select items on repeat these past few months, leaving those that remain in the dust for good.
Whatever the case. You and your style have shifted from pre-pandemic times. Maybe a little, or maybe a lot. Some considerations; reprioritizing, job pivot, retirement or relocation, body and physique changes, reflection on intentionality in behaviors, and personal expression. Regardless, it’s been two whole years. A lot can happen in two years.
What’s hanging on your hangers and folded aptly in your drawers and shelves may no longer be serving you today, or tomorrow. As you start to get dressed and reach for your clothing tomorrow morning, ask yourself: “Would I buy this in a store today?”
If the answer is no, is it actually worth remaining in your closet for the next time you go to get dressed?
