Hi there! Welcome to Saturday Styles, your weekly guide to practical, relevant, and sleek product recommendations. Here are my top picks this week based on what I’ve been loving for my clients, my closet, and day-to-day life improvements.
FALL DINNER PREP
My absolute favorite cookbook. It’s that time of year when I crack it open for weeknight and dinner party ideas. Pages 75 (Fried Broccoli w/ Kale), 174 (Baked Rice w/ Confit Tomatoes & Garlic — THE BEST DISH), and 229 (Chicken Marbella) are my mainstays. The baked rice dish (174) has whole cinnamon sticks baked into it, which makes your house smell divine and your taste buds even more roused. I love these pages so much that they are warped from overuse. Yotam Ottolenghi knows the soul of food, and this book makes it accessible to many of our tables. Ottolenghi Simple $16.52 (53% off).
POPPIN’ BOTTLES
Bubbles are an appreciated beverage from time to time, and I often struggle with opening the cork on Champagne or Prosecco when we have it at home. Thanks to this handy tool, which is also great for gifting, I’m not worried about the struggle to open or the over-popping action that has the potential to ruin the taste. This tool lets you open it quietly with confidence. For those of you who have wine bottle openers or corkscrews, this is the equivalent of bubbles. Franmara Premium Champagne Opener in Gold, $11.37.
OONI PIZZA OVEN
I was gifted this pizza oven last holiday season and finally broke it out over the summer. It took a few attempts to get the heat right (I use the Oak Wood Chips to fuel it), but after 2-3 undercooked/too doughy pies, I worked it out. Once the temp is right, it fires up ‘zas within minutes. So we hosted friends to make custom mini pies… the highlight of the menu and the party was the Nutella, berry, homemade whipped cream dessert pizza. It’s not a small investment but a big impact for the taking. Ooni Karu 12 Multi-Fuel Outdoor Pizza Oven, $299.
HEAT + WATER RESISTANCE MITTS
It is not exactly the item that one shops for on the regular. But a few years ago, I was using my cotton/terry padded oven mitts and holding half of a cooked spaghetti squash, forking it while steaming hot, only to realize afterward that my gloves were covered in the remnants of the root vegetable and olive oil from baking. They were ruined. So I did some research and landed on these gloves. They are non-slip, heat-withstanding (up to 500°F), and waterproof — so when I am making squash and holding the items or a slice of piping hot pizza out of the oven, they can be rinsed to last longer. Sungwoo Extra Long Silicone Oven Mitts, $11.89.
