Hi there! Welcome to Saturday Styles, your weekly guide to practical, relevant, and sleek product recommendations. Here are my top picks this week based on what I’ve been loving for my clients, my closet, and everyday upgrades.
*A note on socks — an item that we perhaps don’t think too much about or overlook. It’s just another one of the underlayers that we need to slip on, and yet, my client requests for a wide range of sock types have been abundant this past year. Socks also make for really fun gifts. Side note: it’s probably a good time to try the 4-minute sock edit.
🧦 Featured are throwback crew socks to pair with retro sneakers and leggings or barrel jeans. Sheer socks with embroidered motifs to delicately slip on with ballets and loafers, or even with heels. A comfortable, breathable, yet warm calf sock to wear with booties. A refresh order for no-show socks that truly don’t slip, not to mention actual no-slip/grippy socks for pilates and other machine/mat-based movements. And on the occasion (esp. right now), ski socks. My fave compression socks for travel are at the bottom to round out your newly organized sock drawer.
Here’s the full list of what I’m constantly sharing in texts with clients and on their virtual closet platforms — including women’s and menswear styles:
MODERN TAKE ON CREW
Crew socks are making a comeback (it’s all cyclical, after all) because they strike a balance of comfort, nostalgia, and style. They're versatile enough to pair with sneakers, loafers, or boots, and they add a sporty, laid-back vibe to any outfit. Styling tip: roll them down a bit for a more relaxed/scrunched look, or go full-length for that throwback feel with your leggings or cropped pants. They certainly add personality. Sockologie Tie-Dye $15, Baggu Ribbed Sock $10 + Stance Men’s Crew $11.99.
Also, a Girlfriend Crew from Le Bonne Shoppe $14, these Mix Match cuties from Stems $18 + you can’t go wrong with Bomba’s Men’s Half-Calf, 4-pack for $53.20.
SHEER DELICACIES
A new spin on your balled-up knee-high nylons. I have been loving wearing these with my metallic loafers, black pants, and a sweater for a little wink of style. When I sit down at coffee meetings, they become a conversation tangent ;) Style them with flats, loafers, low-cut booties, and pumps or slingbacks. Falke Polka Dot Mesh Crew $20, Hansel From Basel Wildflower Sheer Crew Socks $32 + Stems 2-Pack Micro Fishnet Ankle Socks $30.
Also, some sweet Poppies from HFB $32, fun Fruit 2-pack from Anthro $20 + a Colorful Set $14.99.
FOR BOOTS + EVERYDAY
These are a pricier sock, but they are worth the investment if you’re interested. Falke makes a luxe sock that performs well, and this is their marquee style, which I start wearing in October with all of my boots and booties. I have them in black and the lighter tan color that I wear with some of my light suede booties. A light-midweight cotton blend… doesn’t take up too much room inside the shoe; it also provides comfort and enough warmth during a seasonal fall-winter day. Falke, Women’s Sensitive London Cotton Blend Socks $26 + check out their Merino version for a warmer-wicking style $30. For the Menswear version, the cotton style $26, the dress sock $31 + the Wool/Stretch-Blend Airport socks $30.
If you need socks for tall, knee-high boots: Falke makes a luxe Merino that doesn’t take up much room around your legs $42 + Bombas warmer knee-highs $16. Here’s a menswear over-the-calf cotton blend from Pantherella for $32.50.
For an elevated every day take | Womenswear: Stems Cotton/Cashmere blend $32, Smartwool Cable 2-Pack $22.80 + the luxe Comme Si Cashmere style $98.
For an elevated every day take | Menswear: Kingsman 3-Pack with subtle flare $70, Smartwoold Daily 2-Pack $27.30 + Sumptuous Stretch-Cashmere from Todd Snyder $98.
NO-SHOW
There’s been an increase in requests/refreshes for these as clients prepare for their upcoming warm-weather vacations (pair with stylish sneakers). The only no-show I wear or recommend—a standard staple, in cotton, women’s + men’s sizing available. They come in more colors, too. It’s made with a subtle rubberized backing to stay in place and sewn in a way that supports the whole sock from being pulled. I stocked up on these earlier in the summer and wear them with sneakers year-round. As a Millennial, I’m conditioned to embrace a lower-cut sock. ONDO, Organic Cotton No-Show Socks 4-Pack $48.
Also. check out ONDO’s Low-Cut No-Show (for flats) + Merino Wool No-Show’s (for a warmer wicking style).
NO-SLIP + ATHLETIC
Grippy
My go-to’s for pilates, PLNK, and yoga in the winter. Grippy socks add that extra flair and functionality, giving you more grip on the mat/reformer while keeping your feet cozy. Why not have fun with this kind of style? They’re like a little boost of joy every time you slip them on!
Pointe Studio $16 and Lucky Honey $18 make some of my faves + they make vibrant men’s styles $16.
Workouts
If you’re an ankle sock person, try this breathable womenswear style 3-pack $21.57 + the menswear version 6-pack $13.99.
If you want a little more sock exposed around the ankle, here’s an old faithful 6-pack $29 + what my husband wears 6-pack $23.
Ski/Snowboard Socks
Womenswear Performance: Smartwool $30 + Falke $38
Menswear Performance: Smartwool $29 + Falke $45.95
Plus, my go-to compression socks for those long travel days.
