When I think of spring style, I can’t help but recall Miranda Priestly’s iconic pursed lips and her disdain for florals as a cliché expression of the season’s inevitable aesthetic. Now, to be clear, I’m all for florals all the time, but this styling newsletter is about spring transitional dressing that steers you away from fresh blooms and into color combinations that are a little unexpected yet work.
You can look to these five color combos as a form of dopamine dressing and infuse them into your closet on a frequent or sparse basis, but ultimately, as long as they suit you. For this styling note, I decided to don each pairing so you could see them in true action. Days ahead for the next few weeks or even into May will welcome your suede boots and cashmere pairings to sleeveless tops and ankle-exposed pant lengths.
